FOUNDATION FOR RURAL RECOVERY & DEVELOPMENT
The Foundation for Rural Recovery and Development (FORRAD) was established in January 1980 by a group of like-minded individuals with rural development as their common focus. The Trust's objective is to promote, support, guide and coordinate projects, programmes and schemes relating to development of human and natural resources, building up communities, creating and reinforcing group assets and enhancing livelihood processes with focus on women, tribal and scheduled caste communities.
Over the last 31 years, FORRAD has created a network of more than 450 grassroots organizations in rural areas spread over Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand. The emphasis has been on encouraging projects that contribute significantly to the enhancement of individual and community potential in their respective areas. Conservation of environment including land and water and relevant development activities, promotion of technical skill among women and men leading to self- employment, management of renewable natural resources and innovations in developing community micro-hydel generation systems has been among FORRAD's major achievements in the past. FORRAD endeavors to emphasize women's involvement in planning process, development and management of schemes and promoting women's leadership in all activity fields.
The Foundation for Rural Recovery and Development is registered as a Public Charitable Trust.
