Justice Rajendra Mal Lodha

Justice Rajendra Mal Lodha, is the Former Chief Justice of India. Prior to the position as 41st Chief Justice of India, Justice Lodha has served the cause of law and justice in various capacities. He was elevated as Judge of Rajasthan High Court in January 1994 and within few days assumed office at Bombay High Court. He also served as Chief Justice of Patna High Court before his elevation as Judge of the Supreme Court. Justice Lodha's long experience has deepened his comprehension of legal issues and their value in life and liberty. His judgments show the depth of humanity and sense of justice. Justice Lodha has strived all along for independence of judiciary and in establishing the high standard of the justice delivery system in the country. He stands as a symbol of the utilitarian spirit of law, the end of which is to serve the humanity and bring about just and lawful social order.

Dr. (Mrs.) Mithu Alur is an educationist, working for disabled and underprivileged children. In 1972 finding no educational services for children with multiple disability, Mithu founded the Spastics Society of India in Bombay. This innovative model combining education and treatment spread to 20 States. Educational reforms were introduced.Today the first generation learners have become accountants, librarians, computer experts, journalists etc. Children with disabilities have now been included into The Right to Education.

In 1987 the Government of India presented the Best Voluntary Organisation Award , in 1989 a Padmashri. In 1998 she obtained a PhD. entitled 'Invisible Children - A Study of Policy Exclusion' from London, examining a GOI Policy. Her thesis reported findings of massive exclusion…70 million people with disabilities excluded from services due to no cohesive policy.

Mithu began her next journey of inclusion. She began to engage closely with Government, resulting in being nominated to 8 of Ministry HRD Committees, nominated (amongst others) to the Central Advisory Board for Education (CABE) and later to the Standing Committee of Government's National Monitoring and Evaluation Committee for Programmes involving Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Persons with Disabilities, also as Chair of the Task Force for PWD's, this concerns over 400 million of poorest people in the social sector.

Driven by the cause, her challenge remains to demonstrate inclusion of underprivileged and disabled people into mainstream society.

Dr. (Mrs.) Shayama Chona, is the Former Principal of Delhi Public School RK Puram, New Delhi - a world class institution. Her efforts to break the barriers of schools to include the poor and the handicapped are unprecedented. She has served as a member on many Advisory Boards and Committees and has been Trustee of the Nehru Bal Samiti and Special Olympics, Patron of 'Concerned Action Now', Vice-Chairman of the Society for Human Development, besides being on the Managing Committee of 46 schools and other educational institutions.

Dr. Chona is founder member of NGO 'Tamana'. She has given concrete shape and direction to her transcendent principles, by setting up three schools for the mentally challenged: 'Tamana Special School', 'Nai Disha' and the 'School of Hope'. As their Founder, she has been working for the upliftment of the handicapped children since 1984 and celebrates humanity with the dictum, "Numberless are the world’s wonders, but none more wonderful than man"..

Her commitment in the field of education and social welfare for over 4 decades has given concrete shape directly to the nation's education policies and welfare programmes. She is the proud recipient of 54 awards, the most prestigious being the "Padma Bhushan" in 2008 and "Padma Shri" in 1999 and two National Awards in 1994 and 1997 and one State Award in 1993 for her work in the field of education and social welfare.

Dia Mirza is a former Indian model and well known actress who has appeared in several national films. She was Miss Asia Pacific for the year 2000 and was also second runner up in the Femina Miss India 2000 beauty pageant.

Born in Hyderabad she has always felt for the under privileged and the deprived and has contributed her time and delightful in several social causes. She has been involved with Cancer Patients Aid Association, Spastics Society of India, and has worked extensively with government of Andhra Pradesh to spread HIV awareness, prevention of female foeticide, and most recently the NDTV Greenathon - an effort to find tangible solutions against pollution.

She has written several articles in leading newspapers of India and various other publications as a guest writer.

Dia's presence on the Anandana, Coca-Cola India Foundation Board adds to its acceptability to the rank and file and especially the poor and the backward.

Bunker Roy has been a leading figure in the Indian NGO community for the past thirty years and a source of inspiration for many younger social entrepreneurs. Inspired by Gandhi and moved to respond to India's 1967 famine, Bunker Roy moved from the affluent suburb where he grew up to Rajasthan to help rural villagers improve their lives.

The organization he founded in 1972, Social Work and Research Centre, came to be known as "Barefoot College" because its clients are poor, rural, often semi-literate villagers. Today the Barefoot College caters to a host of social activity including education, health, civil works, environment, waste management and alternate energy usage. Communities from all over India have sent representatives to work and study to become "barefoot" health workers, teachers and engineers. Once they return to their villages, they use their knowledge of water engineering, solar power, income generation, medicine and other topics to improve their own communities.

Actor and theater personality Roshan Seth is a person with an abiding passion for perfection. He is a well recognizable face in India because of his role as Jawaharlal Nehru in Sir Richard Attenborough's 'Gandhi'. A native of New Delhi, Roshan Seth honed his dramatic skills at London's Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. His first break came in Peter Brook's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, which toured in 1972.

He has acted in a number of films including Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and David Lean's A Passage to India (1984). Seth's subsequent film credits include Mississippi Masala (1992), Street Fighter (1994), and The Journey (1997).

The celebrated cardiologist is an opinion maker with a sizeable and informed following. His pioneering work in the field of coronary artery bypass surgery was at the New York University Medical Center, where he performed over 3000 coronary artery operations. In 1988, at the height of his career, he returned to India and founded a pioneering state-of-the-art heart institute in India. Dr. Trehan is a Diplomat American Board of Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. He was appointed as Personal Surgeon to the President of India in 1991. Besides clinical work he has taken keen interest in training, education and research programs and has presented a number of scientific papers and chaired scientific sessions in national and international conferences.

Dr.Trehan is responsible for bringing back to India many expatriate medical practitioners in what is an extraordinary reverse break drain.
